My Current playlist…

Good afternoon my lovelies and welcome back to my blog… If you haven’t guessed already this blog post is about my current playlist of music that I am listening to whilst I am writing my current novel (My Work in Progress) I do have a quick trigger warning here just in case, I like to be prepared and at least give people a heads up… I talk about addiction in this post which one of my characters experiences…

Music to me is beauty and art, I love music, it opens up channels in my mind which makes me want to imagine and write, in fact I find it very hard to be able to write anything creative without some form of music playing in the background, or foreground, sometimes I need the music to be blaring loud and clear for the images to come to me to be able to write them. The images create the people, the characters and the world that they will live in, whether that be the real world just re-imagined or a world I have created from scratch. Music for me is key.

So, you might be able to see from the image at the top of this post that the current playlist I’m listening to might have something to do with the band – 21 Pilots – and you’d be right. 21 Pilots are my all time favourite band, I have loved and adored Tyler and Josh for years and I’m very much in the Clique… And their music at the moment is inspiring me to write… It could have something to do with me going to see them during their most recent tour that just finished… ‘The Clancy world tour’, that finished in London… And I was there for their final night, it was AMAZING!!! But I won’t go into detail about the concert here, I will leave that for another post, this blog post is for me to share my current playlist with you… Who knows… Maybe their music will inspire you to write as well?

PLAYLIST – 21 PILOTS…

  • Paladin Strait – Clancy Album (This song means so much to me, it is what inspired my newest work, it makes me travel to another world and its so… chillingly beautiful… Sometimes it even makes me cry! But don’t tell anyone I told you that…)
  • Chlorine – Trench Album (To me, this song is about poison but being addicted to it to feel the vibe, and it resonates with me, because I get so addicted to writing… It’s both a poison and a cure… I need to write to feel better… To let out some steam… But then it becomes addicting… And for my new book, one of my main characters struggles with addiction and the other one has a medical emergency… And I feel this spooky and haunting song that calls to me is perfect to help me see my characters)
  • Jumpsuit – Trench Album – (This song has a bit more of a… Let’s put it as a fighting vibe, not necessarily a punching and kicking fight, but flight or fight for life vibe. Which again, suits my new book idea perfectly)
  • Routines in the night – Clancy Album – (This gives me, stuck in your own head, you can’t get out of it, your mind can be both a scary and beautiful place all at once vibes… This is the beginning of my story for me, my character is in her own mind, opening doors, trying to escape, but she cannot… Or so it might seem)
  • Overcompensate – Clancy Album – (This song helps me to see the world, like a drone flying and zooming around in time with the beat, in tune with the world I have created. I can also see one of my main characters singing the words, as the drone zooms around, images flickering back to me as it explores, before a demon knocks it from the sky and I can finally see the dark side of the world)
  • Lavish – Clancy Album – (There is a somewhat funny part to my story, and this song just seems to play whenever I think about this scene, so it has become that scene)
  • Vignette – Clancy Album – (Again this song talks about addiction, maybe not in the alcohol or drug sense, but how addicting depression can become, in turn it makes you become a sort of zombie… For my story… It helps me understand my character and his demons and addictions and how he copes with them. How underneath he’s not a bad person, but things have happened to him to make him deal with it a certain way that makes people misunderstand him… Weirdly it makes me feel closer to him than my actual main character… But he is a very loud… character in my head, almost to the point his is just as much a main character as she is)
  • At the risk of feeling dumb – Clancy Album – (One of my characters feels very alone, very lonely and has no one around her as she experiences a scary medical emergency, which is where she meets the other main character. Strangely enough, I see him and hear him singing this to her, as she tells him how lonely she is, he helps her over come it by helping her, but music helps them both. I know this all sounds a bit weird, but it is helping me process the story and to layer it up and structure it)
  • Next Semester – Clancy Album – (Another kind of fun vibe with the background tune, and again appears when I’m writing a more fun, up beat moment in my book)
  • Pet Cheetah – Trench Album – (This has a dangerous background tune, and it falls into a more dangerous part of my book, where demons have come out of the wood work and are trying to stop the main characters from surviving)
  • Navigating – Clancy Album – (This song I see as the ending credits, as if my book was a film… )

So, there you have it, my playlist for my current Work in Progress…

Let me know… What do you like to listen to when writing? Do you have a current playlist? Can you listen to music and write at the same time? Do you also like 21 Pilots? Would love to meet a fellow Clique fan.

And I Would like to add that although 21 Pilots is my favourite band… EVER!!! I do actually have to listen to different artists for different book ideas, and… I cannot ever mix the music… By that I mean I can’t listen to these songs for any other book idea. The ideas seem to become jumbled if I do that, and ideas for the wrong story appear. So, once this book is written and I move onto the next one I will need to collate a new playlist… But don’t worry, it doesn’t mean I can’t ever not listen to 21 Pilots again, it just means they will become listening material for leisure… Not work!

Well thanks for popping by, and hope to speak to you again next time.
