So, which activities make me lose track of time?

There are quite a few things, ‘activities’ that make me lose track of time, and not all these activities are equal in gaining something useful from doing them, but they all seem to take up a lot of time and pass the day or night and leave me feeling like I could really use a few more hours…

They are as follows;

  • Writing – I love writing, books, my blog, notes, journaling, blog ideas, lists, anything to do with writing and I’m happy as Larry and away with the fairies. But, writing will make me lose track of time to the point that I can become so immersed in a world I am writing and or creating, or getting to know my characters and their habits, that before I know it hours have passed and the story feels like I have truly lived what has happened.
  • Reading – A bit like with writing, reading can make me lose track of time in a similar way, I become immersed in the world the author has created and written about. So much so that when I finish that book or the chapters I have been reading, it feels like I have really been there and the memories are not those of the characters but are now my own memories.
  • Playing the Sims 4 – This one is the worst for losing track of time. I have always enjoyed playing the Sims since a teenager, and now, even as a 30 something adult woman I can still become so engrossed within the game that hours feel like minutes. I can start gaming at 8pm at night and before I know it, it’s 2am!!!
  • Gaming – A bit like with the Sims, I find gaming as a whole can suck me in and make me lose time. For me gaming is a bit like watching films but I’m in control. If I want to explore the open world I can, if I want to customise my character I can, if I want to scrutinise the whole storyline bit by bit, I can!!! I love gaming, there are so many worlds to explore… And thus… Time seems to run away from me.
  • My Kids – I love my babies, my two beautiful girls, and when I’m with them and we are being a family and having fun, I find time flies. But what is scary is how quickly time flies with them and all of a sudden they don’t seem so little anymore.
  • My Cats – I love my two emotional support cats!!! They are total chaos reincarnated and watching them do stupid things is like doom scrolling on social media for me.
  • My Husband – If you’re married you know what I mean, but having a better half always seems to make time speed up.
  • Procrastination – The least favourite on my list of things that take up and make me lose track of time. The art of being able to do something, anything but the thing you actually need to be doing. The need to write, but having to do the washing, or doom scrolling, or checking emails… Anything other than the thing I need to do which in turn then speeds by in time and then when I do go to write I’m left with no time to do it. A form of self sabotage as you would?!?

This image I took whilst out once at a garden centre, but it just reminds me of a spiral, like time spiralling away from me… losing time.

There you have it, the things that I find make me lose track of time the most! Are they the same or similar to yours? Let me know.
