Much ADO Books – Bookstore – Book Haul…

If you read my blog post from yesterday you will have heard about me visiting a cute and quaint and by far my most favourite bookstore to date! And what serial book collector and reader would visit a bookstore and not purchase a book, or two, or… Four? Not me that’s for sure!

Four books! Four books is what I went away with after visiting ‘Much ADO Books‘. This beauty of a bookshop is situated in a rather oldie worldie looking village called Alfriston in East Sussex, in-between Newhaven and Eastbourne.

The four books I purchased for this book haul are;

  • Katy – By Jacqueline Wilson who is actually a local author to the area and signed the book!!! So, naturally I just had to buy this book, number one, its by a legend of an author who lives in the area and it’s signed!!! What is there not to understand here lol. This book is about a girl called Katy who is the eldest of six children and a bit of a daredevil. But, after having an accident she worries that she will not be her normal, happy, daredevil self again… This book for me stood out and felt a little close to home. My husband was run over in a hit and run and had to have a leg amputated, and we had years of struggling and him basically learning to walk again. I just thought this book might resonate with me more due to its theme and storyline but also, my kids may enjoy reading it too.
  • Setting and Description – By Amy Jones – This book is small and cute and totally a sweet little handbook for authors about settings for stories for authors. I actually grabbed this book because I have another one by the same group of books about Pixies and Fairies and it was very informative so I thought I would give this one a go. Plus being a newly published author myself as of the 19th August, I want all the help I can get to help me grow when I write more.
  • On Writing, A memoir of the craft – By Stephen King – He is of course the KING of writing and most importantly, writing horrors. So who doesn’t want to know how the KING of horror writing does it. The one I purchased is the newer edition, the 25th anniversary edition and is in hardback. I’m so excited to read this!!! Hopefully I will get an insight into how his writing mind works but also hopefully some useful hints and tips.
  • Bibliophile Diverse Spines, Readers Journal – By Jamise Harper and Jane Mount – This is a beautiful book journal for a reading addict, it is a place to jot down the books you have read, what you rate them, what you thought and your favourite quotes from them. The book is also beautifully decorated and also encourages you to read outside of your norms, to pick up a book by someone else from a different culture or minority and to walk a mile in their shoes in their book. I thought as I blog about books and writing and that I am doing a 25 for 2025 book challenge that this might help me log them all.

I also chose a mystery book… The bookstore was having blind date with a book promotions, so I decided to try one. I will be doing my next blog post all about that… And let’s just say… It’s something completely out of my normal reading field… But keep your eyes peeled on my blog to see what it is.

Hope you enjoyed my book haul and if you did let me know. Also, do you have any of these books? And what do you think?
