If you have been to my blog before, or you know me, you will know right off the batt what I am going to say… But for those of you that have no clue, no idea… Well… Let me tell you.
I am an author, a writer, a collector of books and an avid reader… So naturally if I was to own my own shop I would most certainly sell BOOKS!!!

My dream would be to own a book shop but to create one of those book shop cafes where people can browse a cute selection of books, but then be able to sit down in a little cutesy café area and drink tea, coffee and or hot chocolate, and also have sweet things, treats and cakes. The image above is an AI representation of what I mean, a coffee shop in a bookshop (I used the WordPress AI image creator to create the image).
I would also want the book shop to look very rustic but with a modern and cosy twist. Think Ikea shelving filled to the brim with new and old books, but old wooden flooring, funky wallpaper and rugs, with fairy lights and books hanging from the ceiling as decorations. I wouldn’t want the shop to be too large, I would like it to be small and cosy with just the right amount of seating for those that wish to sit, read and sip good coffee but not so much seating that it could feel to empty and void like.
I would love to have a dedicated area for second hand books but I would call it ‘The book adoption drive’, to get good books adopted to good homes. I would also want a section for ‘Blind dates with books’, where I would wrap up books and people would have to take a guess and a blind date with a book, and not know what it could be! I would want to see cute notebooks and pens, ink wells and feather quills. I would want potted plants dotted around to give the air of life into the shop. Outside I would want cute hanging baskets with long flowing plants, and an old bench with pots and plants upon it. I guess I would almost want it to look like a little old cottage with books and books and more books galore inside, but with a hint of coffee to bring people and book lovers together.
In the shop I would love to hold author days where authors can come and do talks, interviews and sign their books. I would love to do mini writing classes with myself and other writers and authors to help and aid the budding writer, because damn it, that is one thing I would have loved to go to if a place near me had done it. I would also love to hold a monthly book club where we could meet new books, especially indie authors books and talk about them and give honest reviews and help authors that need more reviews and exposure… Oh my gosh there would be so much I would absolutely love to do… I guess one can dream…

The image above was created using Word press’s AI image creator, but my golly gosh has it created literally the type of book shop cottage I would love and desire to own!!! Look how beautiful it is!!! I know the bookcases outside might not be overly practical but, it does look blooming gorgeous…
