The thing about writing that I personally enjoy the most is falling into a world that is different to mine and becoming someone else.
I know that may sound weird or at least a little strange, but for me, writing is an escape from the real world, writing is a way for me to process my feelings and emotions, by putting it all down on paper, creating a world, creating characters and then doing things that I cannot legally do in the ‘Real’ world. Take for instance my new book, ‘Death’s Carousel‘. My main character is a girl who was horrifically bullied by her peers at school and into her teen years (I of course was bullied as a child and into my teens, maybe not to the extremes that my character is, that is somewhat exaggerated to make a good story, but I was indeed bullied and would have loved to have been the type of person to stick up for myself, but the people pleaser in me won, and I didn’t want to upset, rock the boat or antagonise the people that could and would, bully me more) but, I can exact my revenge on those people by entering my own world and becoming her, my character and murdering them all!!! (Obviously, only on paper and not in ‘Real’ life) But you get my point, I can escape the real world, climb into my created world and do to people what they have done to me, I control the words on the page and I alone control the outcome as to what happens to the A-holes that need to be shown a thing or too. This actually reminds me of the lyrics in a ‘Twenty One Pilots Song – Bandito’ – Where the main singer ‘Tyler’ sings about creating a world but being able to destroy it if he wanted to…
The other beauty of it as well is… I can change the names of all the characters, so no one will truly know who it is I would love to exact revenge on, because I hide their identity by creating an alter-ego for them. Mwhahahaha!!!
I guess moral of the story is – Don’t piss off a writer / author, you may just end up dead in one of their books in the most excruciating and embarrassing way possible known to man/ womankind…
