The last thing I got excited about – BlackPink Concert in London!!!

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

The last thing I was lucky enough to get excited about was the BLACKPINK Deadline Tour which came to London on the 15th and 16th August 2025… Literally… Just last week as I am writing this!

My youngest daughter is obsessed with Blackpink, she is a huge fan, a ‘BLINK’!!! And I also like their music and admire them as a K-pop band. My lovely husband had booked us some tickets a little while back so we could go and see them at Wembley Stadium. And it just so happened that it fell very close to my own book being released, so it kind of became a celebratory concert for me too. And the funny thing was, he accidently booked a weekend away to Centre Parcs, Woburn Forest for the same weekend, so naturally we just decided to combine it all and have a huge weekend away filled with fun, adventure, celebrations and K-pop.

When we arrived at Wembley for the concert the air was dripping with excitement. There were people there from all walks of life and it showed how big BLACKPINK had become as a phenomenon. My kids had first started to like Blackpink back in lockdown. Obviously there wasn’t too much to do back then other than stay at home, and I remember them playing Roblox and Royale High with Blackpink as their theme tune, they also played ‘Just Dance’, which had a couple of the Blackpink songs. They also used to jump up and down on their trampoline outside in the garden singing to the top of their lungs, ‘Kill this love’, by of course, Blackpink.

We had actually arrived at Wembley stupidly early because my daughter had saved up some pennies and wanted T-shirt from the merch store, and when we had been to previous events, the merch line was usually utter chaos. But once we done that, had a bite to each and explored around the area, the doors opened and we were allowed inside.

What’s funny is that I have been to a few concerts now, but all of them have been at the O2, this was my first one as an adult at Wembley. And wow, the arena’s are so different. You can tell that Wembley is a football stadium, but it actually worked so well. The O2 from experience is always crowded, full of queues, queues that take hours, especially for the merch line. And even the food and drink before you go in to the seats is usually utter chaos. But at Wembley I was able to grab food and drink quite easily, like, in no time at all which was great.

The seats we got were great, we had a good view of the stage and also, we were still close enough to the toilets for emergency, weak bladder moments lol.

We were allowed in from 5.30pm, but the actually performance didn’t start until around 8pm. The wait was unbearable, especially with two kids and one being on the spectrum, but for me, personally, it just made me so much more excited. I couldn’t wait to hear the songs, feel the beat, feel the music pound in your chest. It’s such a surreal feeling but at the same time, it’s almost magical.

When the stage lit up to announce the four Queen’s of K-pop, the arena went crazy!!! People were screaming and crying with excitement and happiness at seeing their idols.

Rose, was beautiful and stunning, and being the one who understands the most English, she was the one who took centre stage and did most of the speaking for the other girls. But one thing I have to say is how sweet they all are! They are so sweet, gorgeous and utterly stunning its mesmerising.

They played a few of their group songs in what they called ACT 1, such as Pink Venom, How you like that, Playing with fire, Shut Down and so on. Then they moved onto ACT 2, where we were greeted with some solos from the girls. First up was Jisoo, who looked so beautiful. Her dress looked almost like a wedding dress but all chopped and fluffy, it was stunning, and her hair looked like pure silk. Her songs are so different to that of her singing colleagues lol, she is more graceful, subtle, sweet and timid, where as they tend to be more rocky.

Next up there was LaLisa who had stunning strawberry blonde come auburn hair and an attitude to die for. She had a dancing entourage that made her a force to be reckoned with, and the screams that echoed around the arena when it was her turn could probably be heard from outer space lol.

ACT 3 came back to the girls coming together and singing their group songs. Pretty Savage, Whistle, Love sick Girls and more. Then in ACT 4 we had Jennie’s solos, and she looked vampy and edgy in her photo on screen before bursting onto the stage in burst of of blue lighting and cityscapes.

Last up to sing solo was Rose, whose personality just shines and owns the stage. She was running under the stage, then sitting on a weird vehicle device to speed her along, beside her, some very British fish and chips lol!!! Her blonde hair shone and sparkled in the light and she literally dazzled everyone.

ACT 5 basically was them doing the last of their groups songs and closing down the night.

The song I was most excited for was one of their new songs, JUMP!!! I love the vibe of this song, it just has such a vibrant, burst of energy and makes you want to get up and party and dance with them. Speaking of dance, at the end they actually made it so the audience, the fans, the Blinks, could participate in a dance challenge where their songs would play and the camera would sweep the arena and if you fell under the camera’s gaze, you had to dance. It was so great to see so many people happy and dancing the night away.

At the end the girls sung a cover of The Spice Girls, ‘Wanna be’, and it was so nostalgic, because the last and only other time I had been to Wembley to watch a concert was actually the Spice Girls!!! It was many, many a moon ago, and was when Gerri Halliwell had left the group but it was still an amazing experience. But this, this just brought back that memory, but also made for a great memory and experience in itself. Plus this time I got to experience it with my family and my children, which was truly amazing.

I have to say that Blackpink are amazing, they are brilliant performers and just seem to have so much fun when they perform, and their energy just seems to infiltrate every pore of every soul in the room. There were people there that I wouldn’t expect to see at a very girly concert. There was a group of about six Asian and Indian men, and they were screaming, cheering, taking selfies and having the time of their life, no wife, girlfriend or daughter insight. Just a group of grown adult men, fan girl-ing over cute, K-pop princesses! It was hilarious. I also saw people sitting alone, they wanted to see them so much but had no one to go with so just went alone. That’s how much people love and adore them!!!

I love going to concerts and seeing bands and experiencing music like never before. It is just something else to see a band, a musician play in a concert hall compared to just your car stereo or on your phone. It is magical and personal, even if there are 60,000 other people in the room.

And well, Blackpink, I wish I could see them all over again. It was just amazing and well worth all the excitement and the waiting.
