Luxmend Split end hair trimmer review…

Ever since the pandemic of 2020 from the horror that was ‘Covid 19’ I have been an avid, do it yourself hairdresser at home. I suffer with severe social anxiety and very rarely leave my house unless it is absolutely necessary lol. Due to this anxiety I have carried on doing my own hair. I do also have to add I am very, very impulsive, especially when it comes to my hair, so if I get a motion in my head for bleaching my hair blonde or dying it jet black at 2am in the morning, I am very much going to do it. I think it stems from a kind of control, I can’t control much of what goes on in my life, so I will attack my hair, simply because I can.

Over the years I have learnt to cut my own hair (although I do admit I had some professional training when I left school, I was a hairdressers apprentice for two years before I had my first child… I just never went back!) so in some regards I kinda know what I’m doing, but at the same time, it is mighty hard to do a full set of foils and a true hair cut on oneself, especially when your last proper hairdressing job was nearly 16 whole years ago. I have indeed learnt though how to give myself trims by looking in the mirror at certain angles to get a semi straight line.

But… I could never truly get rid of the split ends, and with all the home bleaching I have been doing, I needed some form of split end reprieve. Then I came across Luxmend!!! I had seen the videos online and on all my socials but scrolled past not believing in something that could actually work like that. I thought it would be a load crap or too good to be true, but… after viewing the ads for a few hundred times lol and my desperation to not go to the hairdressers, I caved and purchased one.

It cost me £38 with a special offer and took a few weeks to arrive. But once it was in my hand I just had to try it and test it out.

So this is my hair before, as you can see I have bleached it a lot. Unfortunately I had a tonne of black box dye, so bleaching it up is a timely process. I’m still kind of at that ginger stage at the moment, although I do actually really like it, it is giving me fiery redhead / Charlotte Dobre vibes (She is one of my favourite YouTubers) and I’m kinda sticking with it for now as it is bringing me some warmth in my hair for the Summer.

The actual device comes with no instructions inside the box, but it does have a QR code to scan to access instructions. Which to be honest is a more planet friendly way because most people read the instructions once and then bin them, so at least it is less paper wastage and less in landfill or to be recycled. But online the instructions were very clear, brush hair, take small sections of hair, go over the same section a few times to get all split ends and Ta-Da!!! You should be pretty much split end free.

I was very nervous at first because my hair is so over processed and I was worried it would just think all of it was one huge split end and cut it all off lol haha. But no, it is a smart device. It literally only trimmed the split ends that stuck up for the trimmer to catch.

The device is basically a rotating razor blade that swipes over the hair shaft eliminating any split ends that stick up and out. It then collects the split ends that have been cut in a small collection pod on the side of the device.

I was gobsmacked at how much hair it collected but also that how I lost ‘NO’ length what so ever!!!

After using it I brushed my hair through to find that it felt smoother, not so rough and dry. It felt healthier, which was crazy because of how processed my hair has been, it hasn’t felt soft or healthy in a long, long time.

This is my after image. Yes I do still have my layered bits that fluff out, but what is good is that it didn’t mistake my fluffy layers for split ends, it only took off the split ends. I may not be the best at showing my results fully, I admit I am no beauty expert or beauty guru but for me, as a normal human being with some hairdressing skills but not unlimited hair skills it worked and worked well. And was super easy to use!!!

I also have a video showing a quick clip of me using it. Again I am no beauty guru and it is in just my bathroom lol, but I thought it would be best for me to show you something. Obviously the amount of hair in the collection box was not from that one swipe but from my whole head of hair!!! So it’s crazy to see how many split ends I had, but also how it doesn’t cut off too much, that to me is like a normal trim amount.

I really liked this device and will definitely be using it when my hair needs a little TLC and a split end trim.

I don’t know how long it will last, or how long it takes for the blade inside to blunt. But for the price tag I think it was great value for money and even if it lasts a year or two, I feel it is worth the money and price point. I have also been watching the companies reels and videos online and they always seem to be doing some form of promotion on the product so I think you will always be able to get it for a good price and deal.

I would recommend it to others, especially if like me you are not a people person and going to the hairdressers scares you. I would recommend though that you do a practice run on a piece of hair underneath just to be sure you are doing it correctly and evenly and that the product suits you. But I think this is ideal for people who need their hair to have some home TLC.

‘Just a quick disclaimer I’m not being paid to promote this product and I purchased it with my own money. I just thought it would be a good thing to show my thoughts on the product because anything that makes my life a little easier will surely make yours a little easier too!!!’

So, this is my review of the Luxmend Split end hair trimmer, and for us authors that hide away, don’t get out much, don’t tend to see the light of day or even have the time or bravery to go to the hairdressers for a trim, this product is a must.
