I recently had a nice little family weekend away to Centre Parcs, the one at Woburn Forest… And because Centre Parcs is known to be an idealistic, beautiful, calm and carefree getaway, I decided to take some books with me to read and relax with.
As you can see from the image above I did indeed take three books with me… Yes you read that right… THREE!!! And yes, it was a little excessive and a little unattainable to read all three whilst away for a long weekend (Four whole days!) But I couldn’t help it. Number one being away somewhere like Centre Parcs is a great photo opportunity for the books so that I have cool images for my blog and also my Instagram… But also, it all depends what mood I am in on the day as to what book I would want to devour.

As a family we did quite a few cool activities such as;
- Pottery Painting
- Swimming in the Tropical Paradise swimming pool area
- Walking and exploring
- Seeing the wildlife that is in the woodland, we saw baby deer, hedgehogs, squirrels, pheasants and birds, lots of birds especially wood pidgeons
- Sitting on the fake sandy beach by the lake
- Facial at the Spa
- Hair Braiding
- Bike riding
- Build a bear (Centre Parcs Version of it)
- Boat rides on the lake… Oh it was just amazing as we also snuck off the parc to go and see a concert… BLACKPINK!!!

But, although we did a lot as a family, I did manage to have some downtime to just sit, relax, have a nice glass of wine and sit outside at the small table by our lodge and just read…
The books I took with me in my suitcase this time where;
- Death’s Carousel – By me, Piper Nuelle. I took it with me so I could do some last minute checks just before launch day, but also to take a few photos and celebrate with my family about the book release that happened the day after we returned home.
- Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson – This one is next on my list to read, I did start it at the end of the getaway but only a few pages in. But so far so good, I’m liking what I am reading. But I wanted to take it with me because at the time of packing my suitcase it was a toss up between that book and the one I ended up reading which was…
- I bet you’d look good in a coffin – by Katy Brent – This one for some reason really called to me and I pretty much devoured it within three days. The last day was when I started the other book. And to be honest, I think reading this one in three days, when we were all adventuring, going to concerts and swimming most of the time was actually not so bad. I could have read it quicker if I had the time but I wanted to have fun with my family too and celebrate. The book was great and I have already written a review about it which you can find here on my blog, in my previous posts!!!

The three books I took with me all seem to have the same theme, the same niche and genre, they are thrillers with a slight hint of horror and with strong, female leading ladies!!! So, if you are jetting off on a weekend away soon and need some book inspiration, I would highly recommend these books to take with you to have a good read and relax.
Plus they fit very nicely in your suitcase, and look great when your sitting by the pool or at a lodge, looking all bookish and smart lol.
