Happy Anniversary to Twilight… Twenty whole years of Bella, Edward and Jacob!!!

The funny thing was I didn’t actually realise it was the 2oth anniversary of the hit Y/A vampire, werewolf and love triangle book and saga. But the weird thing was, I ordered all the books again the other day second hand from eBay!!! I really wanted to read them again and I had got rid of them years ago due to moving house and not having enough room for all my books, and I really didn’t think I would read them all again seen as I had already read them multiple times… But, I just had a hankering for wanting to read them again and I now have my own home office with bookshelves that I can keep them on. Plus, I love makeup, and I came across the brand Colourpop which had done a collab with Twilight and it was all in the sale!!! So I ordered all of that too!

It is truly amazing to think that Twilight is twenty years old, I remember being like Bella’s in book age when the film came out, and it also means that I am nearing in a few years the big 40, and this just hits it home on how fast time flies.

Now… What was I expecting from the 20th Anniversary?

I’m not sure what I was entirely expecting from the big 2…0… Anniversary. Maybe a new book in the series. I remember Stephenie Meyer the author saying she had a couple more books outlined and in the planning stages. Maybe a revisit to see how Bella, Edward, Renesmee and Jacob are all doing, like a what’s new with you kinda deal? Or how the Volturi came to be and all the shenanigans they got up to? Maybe a book on Rosalie, because I feel she could have had more spotlight and looking into? Or Carlisle and Esme… How Alice came to be or her adventures, or even any of the other Cullen’s or Hale’s stories… Just, something else?

Especially when you look at the previous anniversaries…

• 5 years – We saw the book about Bree Tanner and how short their new life was in the world of vampires and werewolves.
• 10 years – We got life and death, the book that saw Twilight reimagined, almost as if Bella and Edward switched roles, genders and places, but also names. Beau and Edythe.
• 15 years – We got midnight sun… The story from Edwards perspective.

But… What did we get for the 20th anniversary?

We got some pretty new editions of the book series.

Which I am not mad about because they all do look beautiful and amazing, I love the fore-edge design with Bella and Edward, I love the floral designs on the new covers. They do look gorgeous. And whilst I would love to add a pretty new book collection to my book collection, they are all books I have indeed read before, and literally I bought them again second hand not so long ago!

I do hope that maybe Stephenie will surprise us all and bring out some hidden project she was working on, which is why she wanted the new style of book covers and so on, so the new one matches the old ones. But so far, nothing like that has been revealed or mentioned.

There has been mentions online of her doing a live Q and A from Forks this year and a signing event. So maybe she is planning to reveal something there, or maybe she isn’t, maybe it is just to go to the place that appeared in her books that brought her fame, fortune and a family of Twilight fans.

Personally I wish there was more for the 20th anniversary but I guess there is still time, the year of 2025 doesn’t finish until December 31st at midnight. But in all honesty, I will probably still go and look at the new editions and depending on how much they are, I may grab one or two.
