Book Haul ~ for june 2025…

Wow oh wow… Look how goddamn cute these books are!!!

Well hi guys, and welcome to my most recent book haul… As an avid writer and soon to be ‘wanna be author‘, I’m also an avid reader (Gasp, shock horror) and for me I know you need to read to write, or at least that’s what I’ve been told. My genre and niche writing subject is not necessarily the same as the books I tend to read, I’m one of those where I pretty much like to read a bit of anything and everything… Fantasy… yup, Romance, Ok… Horror, well of course… Biographies, sure… Young Adult, I’m game… You name it, I will at least try to read something in the genre at least once… I just feel for me it broadens my author horizons and although I may write in one category now, I may find one day I want to branch out and try something else. Why be a one trick pony right?

But… I digress… Back indeed to my book haul of the month… The Dream Harbour series by Laurie Gilmore.

I remember seeing these cuties last year in supermarkets and other book stores and I was always intrigued to read them, but with a house move, job relocation and the start of a university degree I didn’t grab them right away because moving the books I had, and reading the university textbooks seemed a mammoth task all in themselves. But I went out for a lovely little lunch date with my nanna the other day and we ventured into our local ‘Works’ store, which to me is discount book heaven!

Now, my nanna went off to raid the card making section and to look adoringly at the puzzles as those remind her of my Grandad, and she ushered me off to look at the books so I was out of her hair for five minutes and that was where I spotted all of these precious book babies that needed adopting and finding a new book home. So yes, you may have guessed I am now the proud book mummy to these four.

What drew me in if I have to be truly honest is the front covers of them all. Now I know, I know you should usually never judge a book by its cover, or at least that is what the saying says, but these… Just to good to pass up… And if they are not to my expectations they will at least make nice décor in my study.

The blurbs on the backs of them all did also intrigue me, but the cover is the main culprit on this occasion as to my haul purchase. The four books include:

  • The Pumpkin Spice Café – Sounds very fall and autumnal, which I might be reading at the wrong time of year but who cares? I actually love everything Pumpkin Spice, I even have Pumpkin Spice themed makeup in my makeup bag, so of course I needed a book which has it plastered on the cover. The book and series itself seems to be one of a Romance style story and a quick glance between the sheets (page sheets not bedsheets) proves to show there is some, hot and heavy loving going on, but whilst it seems to hold some romantic and sexy time… Ooo la la… It is not too heavily endorsed with sexy time and does have background story and a nice, feel good vibe and story line to it. But I will do a full review very soon! But, the story seems to follow a character named Jeanie who inherits a café and Logan, a rather manly and grumpy farmer…
  • The Cinnamon Bun Book Store – So this on follows on from the first book, where we see the past characters make an appearance but the main characters are different people, Hazel and Noah… A bookstore manager and a boat trip coordinator… Again its a very loved up story from what I can see, and is very much still set within the Dream Harbour world.
  • The Christmas Tree Farm – Is you guessed it, based more around Christmas time and follows Kira and Bennett. From what I can gather from flipping through and having a quick glimpse is that Kira is the new girl in town and Bennett is a relative of a previous character and that it is now their time to try and find love.
  • The Strawberry Patch Pancake House – This by far is my favourite of all the front covers, with its cherry blossoms and pretty pink appeal, its so cute and gorgeous… Plus… I managed to find a different edition where the pages have been printed on, so when the book is closed you can see a beautiful print of strawberries and pancakes and pink, lots of pink! This story follows Iris and Archer and seems to be the first one to involve a maybe family unit… Which is interesting and nice for the author to not just use young, childless people to find love but someone who has a child and is finding love again.

I’m so excited to finally read all of these books and of course I will give full reviews on each one once I am done. There is also another book in the series due to come out later on in the year… Which I may just have to get for the purpose of collecting for the front covers even if I don’t get on with these ones… But I have a good feeling about these… Maybe it is just the covers that have compelled me and pulled me in, but either way, I have something new and exciting to read.

Hope you enjoyed my haul, I paid £5.50 each for three of the books, and then £6 for the one with the pink print on the outer pages of the book, which I think is a great buy. Plus the ‘Works’ quite often have deals on their books and buying in bulk.

The link above will take you to the works page to see the books but is not affiliated (Meaning I don’t earn anything from this link, I’m just being helpful)

Let me know what you think of my haul and have you read these? What did you think?

Anyhoo, I’m off, got a lot of reading to do. Catch you later, xo Piper xo

The Christmas tree one would be nice to read December time… but I’m too impatient and wouldn’t be able to wait that long lol so I have already read it. But I thought it was great!!!
